Job Description:
We are looking for an engineer with solid manufacturing experience including lean manufacturing and preferably with wood working or manufacturing of wood products.
Responsibilities of the Manufacturing Engineer include the development of new processes to improve efficiencies and throughput in all processes within the Production areas. Additionally, this position will be responsible for working with Department Managers in improving process flow and eliminating waste within their department to achieve production output goals. The Manufacturing Engineer will also be responsible for developing new and improved methods for increasing material yields, reducing material waste, and for maintaining plant layouts using AutoCAD.
1. Responsible for the development of new processes to improve efficiencies and throughput in all processes within the Production areas.
2. Responsible for maintaining plant layouts using AutoCAD.
3. Responsible for working with Department Managers in improving process flow and eliminating waste within their department to achieve production output and quality goals.
4. Responsible for developing new and improved methods for increasing material yields and reducing material waste.
5. Responsible for implementing and training Associates on Lean Manufacturing techniques and methods.
6. Assist in the design and implementation of fixturing/jigs to support improved quality and efficiency.
7. Assist in the development and documentation of standard work instructions.
8. Assist in the cost analysis of new and existing products.
9. Assist in the procurement and the installation of new equipment.
10. Responsible for maintaining a safe working environment with an emphasis on reducing recordable injuries.
Education and
Experience:
1. Bachelor's degree in a technical related field, preferably in Engineering or Engineering Technology.
2. Hands-on experience with Lean manufacturing implementation. Certification in Lean Manufacturing is preferred.
3. Proven track record of efficiency gains and productivity improvements made in a manufacturing environment.
4. Experience in a woodworking facility is preferred, however not required.
5. Experience with CNC and other automated equipment.
6. Hands-on problem solving skills to correct equipment problems.
7. Proficient knowledge and use of AutoCAD 13 or higher, Excel, and Word.
8. Must be a self-starter, able to excel within a face paced environment.
9. Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to resolve conflicts using open, non-defensive communications.
10. Focused and attentive to details.
11. Ability to function with interruptions and deadlines.
12. Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities.
Bachelor's degree in a technical related field is required, preferably in Engineering or Engineering Technology. A minimum of three (3) years experience in manufacturing engineering in a manufacturing facility, preferably in the wood working industry, and a minimum of one (1) year experience in Lean manufacturing implementation.
