This position is responsible to manage prototype purchasing, risk management, process improvement, training, and administration activities for the Supply Chain Management department. The Purchasing Manager also leads a staff of 4 to 5 associates located in Michigan and Kentucky.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities
Supervise Prototype Buyers' daily work and ensure KPI's are achieved.
Supervise preparation of management reports, savings tracking, other KPI reporting and ad hoc reports as requested.
Supervise Data Analysts' development of improved, more efficient methods for managing and reporting data.
Manage the department's implementation of QAD and other I.T. improvements
Manage Conflict Minerals reporting and Supplier Risk Management activities.
Supervise Business Plan preparation and reporting for the department
Develop and document improved procedures for the department.
Develop and manage the department's training program and records.
Develop cost models for strategic commodities.
## Job Requirements
Education and/or Experience (minimum required for the position)
Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or Engineering is required with 5
years of automotive purchasing experience, preferably both prototype and production. Prior supervisory experience strongly preferred. Master's degree and CPM preferred.

Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to gain consensus amongst cross-functional groups, remote locations, and diverse cultures.
Extremely organized, results driven, and willing to escalate issues if necessary to achieve deliverables.
Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to influence and motivate
Strong personnel development skills.
Well-developed analytical skills with strong understanding of savings and RMI reporting
Ability to read engineering drawings.
Cost estimating experience preferred.
Expert level with MS Office, Microsoft Project, Microsoft Access and Lotus Notes or Outlook.
Knowledge of ERP systems, QAD and Mapics preferred.
Ability to travel up to 50% of the time.
Ability to exercise independent judgment to perform essential duties.
Ability to develop instructions and guidelines to perform functions of the job when necessary.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Directly supervises associates in Purchasing. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Physical Demands/Environment
This position requires the following physical abilities: to sit; to use hands (to finger, handle, or feel), to reach with hands and arms, to stand, to talk and hear. In addition, the specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
The work environment is mostly sedentary; however there is occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts and vibration and to outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Other Requirements
There is travel required to visit other Akebono facilities on a regular basis, therefore ability to fly and drive a motor vehicle is required.
